Hydraulic elevators operate on the principle that an electric motor-driven pump pushes hydraulic oil into the piston, and the piston lifts the cabin. Since downward movement is realized entirely by the cabin’s own weight, it provides significant energy savings. In these systems, the machine room does not have to be above the shaft; usually, a small hydraulic power unit cabinet that can be located at the first stop level or in a suitable basement area is sufficient.
